Spectacular Summer Skin Hydration: Tips & Tricks

The heat is here, and so are the summer fun activities! The sun, surf, sand, and summer indulgences may be fun, but our skin tends to think otherwise. Despite the plethora of water activities in the summer, it takes extra work to keep our skin hydrated during the warm summer months. 

Here are a few great tips and tricks to keep you feeling great, and your skin looking fabulous too!

In order for our skin to be as radiant as we desire, it requires some serious TLC:

1) Cleanse: Make sure to regularly clean your face with a mild cleanser. Using a gentle cleaning product during the summer helps to avoid irritation and dryness. Keeping your pores free of dirt and sunscreen is important. We suggest cleansing both morning and night.

2) Exfoliate: Regular exfoliation is essential year round, but in order to keep your skin using its own healthy hydration techniques, it is best to exfoliate with a scrub or tool twice a week when it is hot.

3) Moisturize: Moisturizing seems like an obvious step towards hydration, but many people don't moisturize nearly enough! EVERYDAY, TWICE A DAY. Remember this mantra...and stick to it. Avoid that pesky peeling or flaking of the skin.
Your body responds to everything you fuel it with. Make sure you are choosing the right items:

1) Fruits & Veggies: Your body runs better when you give it plenty of vitamins and nutrition naturally from fruits and vegetables. These natural wonders are good for the body inside and out.

2) Water: The simple action for more hydrated skin is to hydrate your body with some good clean water. Drink plenty of water in order to stay hydrated in the summer heat and activity.

3) Limit Sugar: Your skin with thank you tenfold if you cut back on you sugar consumption. The less sugar you consume, the more vitamins and healthy foods you can fuel your body with and the healthier your skin will be overall.
Skin is sensitive to extreme conditions. Your skin will stay hydrated and happy if you take steps to protect it from harmful damage:

1) Sunscreen: This seems like a no-brainer during the summer (and all year round) but wearing a sunscreen with broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection and at least SPF 30 is essential for hydrated skin.

2) Clothing: Wearing sun-protective clothing is another great defense to keep your skin healthy and hydrated. Choose clothing with SPF protection and wear plenty of cute floppy hats and sunglasses!

3) Avoidance: Experts say that one of the best defenses against damage is to simply stay out of the sun during the hottest times of day. They suggest to stay careful between the hours of 11 AM and 4 PM.

So relax, have fun in the sun, and use these simple tips and tricks to keep your skin healthy, hydrated, and happy all summer long!
