How to be more positive in your daily life...and why!

Negativity runs rampant in our society. Let's face it; bad things happen to all of us. You get a terrible cold that knocks you on your butt; you lose your job unexpectedly, you can't seem to get ahead financially, things happen. The bad news, you can't have a perfect life. The good news, you CAN have a positive mindset despite what happens.

Having a positive mindset can do wonders for the rest of you, too! With a healthy mind also comes a healthy body, better relationships, and more opportunities. 

So how do you maintain a positive mindset even in the most difficult times? Try these few tips to get started and remember...YOU CAN DO IT!

The first and one of the most valuable tips to maintaining a healthy and positive mindset is to be grateful. 

Spend a few moments each morning when you wake up, each evening before you head off to sleep, and every time throughout the day that you are feeling slightly down or negative. Remember all the good in your life.

Be thankful for your family, for your friends, for yourself. Think about how wonderful it is to have your life and what you love about it, despite the hard times.

This takes practice, but over time you will see a huge difference in the way you think about life!
Two Words: Sleep & Eat.

It is much easier to have a healthy mind if you have a healthy body to go along with it! Fatigue and poor nutrition can lead to negative feelings and negative thoughts. Make sure you are nourishing your body with as close to 8 hours of sleep a night as you can! Prioritizing your rest is a must.

Fuel your body with items that improve your well-being. Fit in your eight glasses or more of water each day, grab some fruit as a snack, limit that added sugar.

All of these changes will help you stay positive and healthy all day long!
People say, "You are your 5 closest friends." The individuals we choose to surround ourselves with have a huge influence on our lives and our mindset.

Are you surrounding yourself with people that you trust? With people who try their best to maintain a positive mindset each day? If you are, you will find it much easier to do so yourself!

If you see some discrepancies between who you spend time with and who you want to be, making a change can be powerful. This does not have to be an abrupt end to a relationship or friendship, but slowly choosing to spend more time with more positive individuals will help their positivity spread to you! (and yours to them, too!)
Do you have something that you are looking forward to? Are you super pumped to get up tomorrow and get to work to do what you are passionate about?

Are you itching to get home so you can practice and improve upon your favorite hobby? Do you have fun plans with fun people coming up?

Give yourself something to be excited about! If you are miserable at work, make a change. If you do not have something, you love spending time doing, experiment and find it! Being passionate about what you do each day or looking forward to spending quality time with quality people can help boost that positivity in the long-term!†

A positive mindset is all about feeling good in your skin. Sometimes it takes practice and experimentation to figure out exactly how to do that, but doing so and feeling confident about who you are and who you want to be will help you to keep your positivity up even on the most troublesome days.

Don't get discouraged! Bad things happen but they DO NOT have to equal bad days. Take active steps to change your mindset and be overall more positive. You will thank yourself for it in the long run!
