Varicose Veins
Relief From Varicose Veins Starts Here
Learn what causes varicose veins and discover minimally invasive treatment options that can help improve your comfort and vein health.
What are Varicose Veins?
Varicose veins develop when weakened vein valves allow blood to pool, causing veins to become enlarged, twisted, and visible beneath the skin. They most commonly appear on the legs, feet, and ankles and may cause symptoms such as aching, heaviness, swelling, or discomfort.
At Catalyst Medical Center, we treat varicose veins with Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA), a minimally invasive procedure that uses laser energy to close the affected vein. Blood naturally reroutes to healthy veins, helping relieve symptoms and improve the appearance of your legs with little downtime.
What is Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA)?
Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat varicose veins. During treatment, laser energy is delivered directly into the affected vein, causing it to close and gradually be absorbed by the body.
Once the vein is closed, blood is naturally redirected to healthy veins, improving circulation and helping relieve symptoms such as pain, swelling, and heaviness while also improving the appearance of your legs.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Know if My Veins are Varicose or Spider?
We will perform an ultrasound to determine if you have any underlying vein insufficiency. If you have underlying vein insufficiency, next we determine if you are a candidate for medical vein therapy or cosmetic vein therapy. If deemed medically necessary, insurance coverage may be an option.
Does Sclerotherapy Hurt?
You will feel some needle pokes, and some may feel more tender than others. Most people tolerate the procedure without difficulty. This procedure does not require any anesthesia.
What is the difference between Varicose and Spider Veins?
Spider veins are similar to varicose veins, but they are smaller and closer to the surface of the skin. Varicose Veins are dilated and elongated veins below the skin.
- Spider veins have a small diameter, are red, purple, or bluish, and resemble a web.
- Varicose veins are larger, deeper veins that can protrude, resulting in a rope-like appearance.
How Do I Know if I Need Vein Treatment?
Patients who present with symptoms of vein disease such as leg cramps, pain, heaviness, swelling, or restless legs are encouraged to schedule an appointment.
Does Endovenous Laser Ablation Hurt?
A local Anesthesia fluid, Tumescent, is injected along the course of your ELVA – treated vein segment to anesthetize your varicose veins.
Most patients experience little to no discomfort.
